Even cats, no matter their age, are like toddlers. You have to be cautious no matter what you give them. #1: At under 20" this is sized more for kittens. Although if you have a short-legged adult cat, this may be OK. My tuxedo with long legs can fully stretch up to 34", so I have a really tall scratching post for her. Cats like to get a full stretch in addition to clawing things. #2: Before I assembled this, I cut off all the dangles. The cords are stretchy and a cat or kitten can get hurt if the cord wraps around them. I also removed the thick staples holding the dangles on with a pair of pliers.Otherwise, this post seems fine. I have a 5 foot tall kitty mansion that I bought this for - mainly it coordinates well with the colors and my tuxedo tends to jump from the top perch of the kitty mansion down to the floor and I'm hoping she will use this scratching post as her first landing point.

We had a hard time assembling it because our kitty kept playing with the mouse! Once we finally got it assembled he still loves playing with the dangling toys, trying to capture all three at once. I thought for sure the string on the mouse would break the first day but it’s held on for a few weeks now. He likes scratching both the sisal posts and the carpet on top and bottom. Unfortunately he doesn’t like scratching them as much as our furniture which is why we bought it, but he’s never liked any cat scratchers so I guess it’s a slight improvement. I’m sure other kitties who like to scratch would love it. The tower is nice and sturdy and just tall enough for our long 15” kitty to scratch on it. Overall a good value, especially since it keeps him entertained!

Love, love, love this scratching post !! First thing is that you get 3 scratching posts & the Design makes it very stable and usable for even large cats. The dangling toys are an added treat, & My 11 Year Old Boys play with these constantly!! Even when they’re being lazy, they just lay on their backs and bat at the lowest hanging ball. I like that 1 of the hanging balls hangs really low, and this is the one they play with the most. (The mouse & the 2 balls all hang at different heights). I haven’t seen my cats play this much since they were kittens. Over the years I bought them many toys and many cat scratchers, But none of them has caught and kept their attention like this one. I’m buying an extra one for when this one is all scratched up, And needs replacing. And hopefully, after that, these will still be in stock. Wonderful design and it will give hours of play for your kitties (even if they’re older !!)

My cats have made pretty good use of it, especially our youngest. It is solid (the strong and big cat won't knock it over, which is a concern in our house), and easy to put together. I have two issues with it after 20 months. 1) you can't reverse direction on the posts, so that when one end is scratched up they could use the other (most designs allow this), and 2) they don't sell replacement posts. If we could reverse the posts, this item would be twice as durable, rather than my considering a different brand for a replacement in the summer. I really really do not like tossing out things that could have been fully used up--but there is no point in saving a scratching post with no 'scratch' left in the area that the cats would actually use.

My cat is medium-sized (11 lbs.) and stretches her back to "sharpen" her claws at the tops of the three jute-wrapped pillars. Eventually the jute rope frays, and the value of this unit is that it can easily be disassembled, the pillars turned upside down, and re-screwed to the bases. The frayed rope can be "cosmetically" trimmed with scissors away from the bottoms. and now there are fresh new tops for the cat to attack! We just purchased our second one from Amazon - highly recommended as an attractive addition to the home - and one my cat uses regularly!

We do not have a calm, snuggly kitty. We have an aggressive, 11 pound feral cat that we adopted from our local shelter. She has no use for cute little cat toys. We bought her this 3 pole cat scratcher about a year ago. She saw the little white mouse hanging there and tried to kill it while we put it together. She played with this everyday, multiple times a day. She lunged at it, attacked it, stretched the elastic as far as it would go and let it snap back then lunged again. She's been rough and aggressive with this for a year. We just bought her the 2nd one. This scratcher is worth every penny, is VERY well made & sturdy - plus having this has kept her from destroying our furniture.

I rescue the tabby Siamese cat, who has been kept in a basement with very little socializing. He has turned out to be the most loving, gentle little fur baby. He's now coming out of his shell and he loves the new scratching post. It seems to be very durable and it keeps him occupied in a happy place

Wanted one with proper carpet type corded base as it's better for scratching and wears much better than the fluffy ones. The platform to jump for was great when Lulu was smaller - now she uses it more like she has ambitions at Aintree, but she is still very keen on it.
