Pet profiles: Meet Frosty, the fluff behind our Ad Ops stuff

What makes your dog unique? Maybe it’s the way they let their tongue flop out of their mouth, or their human-like talking when they’re excited. Every dog has a few special characteristics that make them, well…them, and if we at PawTracks could get to know every pup in the world, we absolutely would.

For now, we’re spotlighting some of the adorable pets who make the lives of our Digital Trends’ family so much brighter. In the past, we’ve met sweet Lulu Belle, whose bark makes a big mark for our IT team. There’s also Famous Shamus, a mixed-breed boy who proudly lives up to his given moniker. This time — meet Frosty!

From detecting only the finest of pup treats to some special circus skills, this fluffy guy can do it all. We’ll get to know him and some of his favorite toys and treats — but first, though, let’s get to know his proud pet parent.

The parent and the pup

Please introduce yourself! What do you do here at Digital Trends Media Group?

[My name is] Sujin Lee, and I am a Senior Ad Operations Manager. I oversee the campaign managers in the Ad Ops department — from RFP to post-campaign.

Thanks for your contribution to our company! Now, for the questions we’ve all been waiting for… How many pets do you have?

One — Frosty.

What is your pet’s breed? Did you choose their breed specifically?

American Eskimo; I did not choose his breed.

How beautiful! Does this breed fit your lifestyle? Why or why not?

Yes. He is the perfect size for our family. He is active and loves the outdoors and is head of security when we are home.

All about Frosty

Do American Eskimos have any unique traits, and does Frosty show any of them?

They can walk on their hind legs. They were the circus dogs that could walk on the tight rope and do other tricks. He is [also] a master at the game of fetch.

Storytime! How did Frosty join your family?

I was there when a close friend’s daughter brought Frosty the puppy home. They had [an]other name but I came up with Frosty and it stuck. Three months later I got a call saying that the family got transferred to South Africa and asked if I could watch him until my friend returned to close up the house in the U.S. Then we all agreed that it would be best if Frosty stayed with me instead of sending him to Africa.

What are some of your favorite things about your pet — whether it be sweet memories, little quirks, or other behaviors?

Frosty is head of security. He is a truly devoted member of the family and makes sure that we always know how much he loves us.

Does Frosty have any special needs?

No.

What are some of Frosty’s favorite treats and toys?

[His favorite toys are] Lamb Chop, the Chuckit, and the ball. He loves Good n Fun products, especially the Kabobs and Nudges and other Jerky Cut treats — he does not like any dog cookies.

What a unique pup! What type of food do you feed him?

He eats Taste of the Wild dry, Blue Buffalo Freedom wet, and lots of treats.

Where do you prefer to purchase your pet’s products?

Chewy and Target.

Do you carry pet insurance for Frosty?

No.

Thank you, Sujin, for sharing a bit about Frosty and some of his favorite things with us!  Between his guard dog skills and circus talent, he sounds like a very, very good boy. It’s amazing to see all of the special abilities dogs possess, whether they put their skill to work out in the world or at home. From police dogs to animal actors, pups really can do it all.

Pet profiles: Meet Bethany, a Great Dane with a great personality

Welcome to our Pet Profiles series, where we spotlight exemplary pups and doggos who light up the lives of this web company’s pros. You’ve met Lulu Belle with her ‘round the clock antics and Frosty, the fluffy American Eskimo Dog, but this month’s superstar is just a little bigger.
This time around, we’re getting to know Bethany, a massive Great Dane with love and personality to spare. Let’s get the scoop on this crazy girl from her owner, Digital Trends’ own Gene Mendez:

The parent and the pup
Thanks for being a part of the team and this special project, Gene.  What’s your specific role here at Digital Trends Media Group (DTMG)?
Manager IT — As head of the IT [department], I set the strategic direction for all the IT-related activities based on our business drivers. I'm also responsible for ensuring the daily smooth operation of our computing environment.
Thanks for all that you do for DTMG! Now, on to the good stuff — how many pets do you have?
One: Bethany (Queen of Rocky Butte).
I had no clue we were dealing with royalty here! What breed is Her Majesty?
She's a Great Dane.
What led you to choose Bethany’s breed?
I've had Great Danes for many years. I love their temperament. At home, they are pretty laid back, and they love being fawned over. They are very dramatic when they don't get what they want.
They truly live up to their reputation as being gentle giants. But give them a wide-open field and they come alive. They are the most beautiful and graceful dogs to see run at an all-out gallop. They're lots of fun to wrestle with, too. They instinctively know just how big they are, and they know how to be lovingly gentle in their roughhousing.
I've never wanted any other breed, ever since my first.
It’s a love story for the ages! How is the Great Dane breed compatible with your lifestyle?
I like to be on the go, and they love to be right there with me. They were originally hunting dogs, so they have this desire to be a part of everything you do. And when at home, I like to enjoy just being home, and the hunting dog in them enjoys that, too.
I typically love having company over. Because they know that it means they get more attention, they love it when company comes over, too. Great Danes fit right in with my lifestyle.
What are some of your favorite unique characteristics or fun facts about Great Danes?
First and foremost, they are gentle, loving, and loyal. They need to know that we have expectations of them. This gives them the opportunity to please us, and they love that. They can also be very dramatic. When they get mad at you, they express it by throwing themselves on their pillow and refusing to look at you — kind of Greta Garbo-ish.
When they're happy to see you, look out for that tail. It will clear the coffee table.
They love children. They will play with — and take — just about anything the kids will dish out. And when it's too much for them, they will simply move off and find a safe corner to hide. Yet, they continue to be gentle and patient even when cornered. If an outsider makes the kids sad or anxious, they will get in between and let you know, stopping it.
They are all that and regal too, in one amazing package.

Ready for your daily dose of cute? In our Pet profile series, PawTracks gets an insider look into the lives of some of our staff and the cats and dogs who make their homes whole. In the past, we’ve met Frosty — an athletic American Eskimo — and Lulu Belle — a sassy Shih Tzu mix — among others.
In this piece, we’ll get to know sales manager Nicole Abbondandolo and her pup Chloe, a sweet lap dog with brains and beauty to match. Let’s learn their story and see what they’re up to!

The parent and the pup
Thanks, Nicole! Would you mind describing your role at Digital Trends Media Group (DTMG)?
Digital Sales Manager — I work across the sales team to drive revenue for DTMG.
How many pets do you have, and what are their names?
One. Her name is Chloe.
What breed is Chloe? Did you choose this breed for a reason?
[She’s a] cavapoo (a Cavalier King Charles spaniel and poodle mix). We had a cavapoo growing up, and I've always been drawn to the breed.
Does having a cavapoo fit with your lifestyle? Why or why not?
Yes. Chloe is wonderful! She gets along with all dogs and humans. She's obedient and very smart!
That’s great! Chloe sounds so sweet. Do cavapoos have any unique traits or behaviors?
[They are] very snuggly and like to be close to their owners. If they’re not sitting on a lap or getting a belly rub, nothing makes them happier than to flush a bird and then attempt to retrieve it.
(Editor’s note: When a hunting dog “flushes” a bird, they chase the bird out of their tree or shelter and into the sky so that the hunter can get a clear shot. Many flushing dogs are also happy to retrieve prey.)
